Home organizing that fits your life
Whether you are overwhelmed by too much clutter or you can't find anything, together we will create organizing systems that are easy to maintain & designed around the way you actually live.
Organizing for real life
When I work with clients, my goal is not to create Pinterest-perfect spaces for them. While that might be pretty for a moment, it isn't sustainable.
Instead, I work to leave clients with something they can maintain. I love it when clients tell me that they have been able to keep things organized because of the system we put in place!
Are you ready for an easier-to-manage home? Schedule your free assessment & let's create a plan that works for your space & your lifestyle.
A judgment-free approach
Organizing can feel vulnerable. My role isn't to judge your space or tell you what you should keep or get rid of. Instead, I provide practical support, encouragement, & personalized solutions that help you make meaningful progress at a pace that feels comfortable.
"Emily was patient, kind, never pushy & never made us feel bad about all the 'junk' we had. I was really impressed with her pacing & sensitivity with my 83 year-old mom."
Frequently asked questions before you book
Frequently asked questions before you book
There are a couple of options:
- We can use what you have on hand
- I can provide you with links to supplies that I recommend for you to purchase in advance of the organizing dates. The final invoice will include the time spent researching projects ideal for your space.
- I can purchase the supplies. The final invoice will include the cost of the supplies & the time spent researching products ideal for your space.
- While it might be tempting to "organize before the organizer arrives", you hired me & it is my pleasure to organize your space. I will not be surprised or overwhelmed by what I find.
- Be ready at the agreed upon time. If we are working together, you may want a snack beforehand & have water available while we work.
- If something comes up & you are not available on the date(s) we scheduled, contact Space for Joy ASAP. Rescheduling less than 48 hours before the scheduled project may result in the forfeiture of the deposit.
- As an animal lover, any pets in the home are welcome as long as they do not pose a risk (biting, aggressive behavior). We do ask that you disclose in advance if you have furry (or feathered) friends.
- While there are general guidelines for organizing projects, the most honest answer I can give is: it depends. A few factors that affect the timeline include:
- The size of the space and how much needs to be addressed.
- How spread out your belongings are. For example, are all of your kitchen items in the kitchen, or have some migrated to the basement, laundry room, garage, or linen closet? Either is completely normal, but gathering similar items together does take additional time.
- How quickly decisions can be made. Some clients simply need encouragement & help staying focused. Others prefer to talk through decisions as we work. Neither approach is better than the other & I'm happy to support whichever style works best for you.
- Your goals for the project. Creating a functional system for a single space will take less time than organizing an entire room, floor, or home.
- During your assessment, I'll learn more about your space & goals so I can give you a more accurate estimate of what to expect.
I would first tell you that you are not alone. Many of my clients have shared that.
Then I would tell you what I have told them: "There's no shame in the way your home looks. It isn't good or bad, it just is. We can work together to get your home to a place that works better for you."
You don't need to clean up before I arrive & you don't need to apologize for your space. We'll simply start where you are & focus on making progress one step at a time.
